The Product Development Tracker helps product and engineering teams manage work from early opportunities through execution. It connects Opportunities, Projects, Epics, and Tasks so teams can move from identifying what to build to planning, prioritizing, and delivering it.

How it works

The template is built around four connected databases:

Opportunities capture customer problems, product ideas, feature requests, or areas for improvement. Use them to document the problem, supporting evidence, priority, potential impact, and status before committing engineering resources. Promising opportunities can be linked to the projects created to address them.

Projects represent the larger initiatives your team decides to pursue. Each project can connect back to one or more opportunities and track its objective, owner, priority, timeline, status, and overall progress.

Epics break projects into meaningful streams of work. Each epic is linked to a parent project and can track scope, ownership, priority, status, target dates, and progress. Roadmap and status views help teams understand what is planned, in progress, blocked, or completed.

Tasks turn epics into actionable work. Tasks can be assigned to individual contributors, prioritized, scheduled, and linked back to their parent epic and project. Teams can manage execution through board, list, calendar, and filtered personal views.

Together, the databases create a connected workflow:

Opportunities → Projects → Epics → Tasks

Relations keep context connected from discovery through delivery. Teams can trace a task back to the epic, project, and opportunity that motivated the work, while rollups can surface progress from tasks into epics and projects.
